About the Book

The ‘80º NORTH’ has been a passion project from the start, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you! With photos by ISBJORN’s own Ship’s Photographer James Austrums & the crew of s/v DELOS, plus stories in text form by Andy, this special Limited 1st Edition of the book will be as much an object of art to behold, as it is an object of inspiration to read and look through.

When we first asked James to join us for two months in the Arctic, we knew we’d want to do something beyond just get a harddrive full of photos from him after it was all said and done. Right away, we wanted to make something special. Fast forward to Iceland, August 2018. The book had been conceptualized, and Andy had written most of the text…but who was going to design it? Mia & I recalled our neighbor from our Lancaster, PA days, Tom Bejgrowicz, an avid artist who’d worked with major labels in the music business doing photography and cover design for bands like the Misfits. Tom would be perfect! A few months later, and Mia & I are sitting on his couch, back in Pennsylvania, dreaming up the design.

Now, as we sit in Las Palmas getting ready to cross the Atlantic, Tom has completed the design of the book and it’s being printed locally in PA! The photos you see here are the first glimpse of the interior pages, and having seen a PDF proof, it’s gonna blow you away.

Inside you’ll find 160 uber-high-quality pages of (some) text and (mostly) photos that tell the story of ISBJORN in the Arctic. It begins with ISBJORN blasting up the Norwegian Sea towards Lofoten, continues with the DELOS crew in Svalbard, and ends when we finally get south of the Arctic Circle and make landfall in Iceland. We can safely say this is the coolest creative project we’ve ever done and are SUPER proud to share it with you. Yes, it’s expensive, but it cost us a whole bunch to produce, not to mention the blood, sweat and tears just to get to the Arctic and back! We spared no expense in making this book, right down to the hand-picked materials for the paper, cover, dust jacket and more by our designer Tom - this is a book you’ll have forever, and we hope you’ll appreciate it as much as we do.

There’s also a few personal surprises inside from us and the DELOS crew, so trust us, you won’t be disappointed! Pre-order now, and price includes shipping. They will likely start shipping sometime in mid-March, and you’ll be kept in the loop throughout the process.
