#269: Charlie Doane // Sailing Journalism & The New Lunacy

OTW269.jpg

#269. Charlie Doane is a long-time Editor-at-large with SAIL Magazine, and a lifeline sailor. I've known Charlie for years, and FINALLY got to sit down for a long chat with him aboard his new Boreal 47 LUNACY in St. George's harbor in Bermuda. Charlie told stories of his early days saiing a styrofoam boat he'd gotten in the mail by saving cigarette packs, the chance meeting that got him into sailing journalism, getting ship-wrecked in Africa and lots more.

On The Wind is the evolution of 59º North, and is, quite simply, long-form conversations with sailors from around the world. 'On the Wind' Sailing Podcast is informal chats with people from around the world of sailing - tall ship captains, Cape Horners, sailing authors, Volvo Ocean Race skippers, yacht designers, family cruisers, Arctic adventurers and more. Our aim is to define what creates success in the sailing world and figure out how to accomplish dreams on the high seas.
